Then, that entire area is roped off, and it becomes one giant tailgate.

What is Keeneland Race Track and
how does it work?
What is Keeneland?
Keeneland is a horse racing track located in the Lexington area. It takes about an hour and a half to get there (but allow more time for traffic problems on race days)
Most people purchase our 12 hour package. You’ll use most of it on your Keeneland day, but any left over time can be used a different day (restrictions apply).
How much are Keeneland tickets?
General admission is only $10, and you can almost always get them at the gate. Check their website, as this may vary.
If you want reserved grandstand tickets, you should probably get them ahead of time.
What time of day should we start?
Early!
While the first race is usually 1:05pm, parking at the tailgating area is often full well before that.
Most of our customers leave Cincinnati at 9:30am at the latest, which means you want us there at 9:00am to give you time to load up all your stuff!
Is this a good idea for my clients and customers?
Absolutely.
Thnk about it. A captive audiance for an entire day of fun. We’ve had large corporations bring their clients every spring and fall year after year. It’s a great way to build client (and employee) loyalty!
What should we wear?
Many people dress up.
Dresses and (really) big hats for the ladies, jackets and bow ties in pastel colors for the men.
You’ll notice the vast majority of people there are dressed this way – it’s part of the fun!
Obviously you can also wear jeans or what not. The choice is yours.
Can we eat and drink in the limo or party bus?
Yes.
In fact, we encourage it. While Keeneland has drinks and food, it’s expensive.
Motortoys is BYOB, so you can have a Mint Julip in the limo or the tailgating area with your own fixins for probably a tenth of the cost.
What should we bring with us?
Chairs, food, snacks, and drinks. Tailgating is a major production down there!
Don’t forget suntan lotion.
When does Keeneland have live racing?
Live racing is only twice a year – April, and October, Wednesday – Sunday.
They are not open Mondays or Tuesdays.
What times are the races?
First race is usually 1:05pm, but you want to get there earlier than that – the designated tailgating area does get full early!
After that, a race is every half hour till the last one at 4:00 or so (this varies).
